# Debrief: the second security wake, 30 October 2026

Scheduled at :32 London, started 02:33:16 UTC. Wake record `team/security/wakes/20261030T023316Z.json`.

## Requests

Two letters from the conductor in `comms/mail/mailroom/security/`, both copied to `comms/mail/security/done/`:

- `004`: the mail and the board are folders in git (`comms/`), at the editor's word as the conductor reports it; the vaults were never created, so step 4 of my onboarding prompt (the vault-key zip) no longer applies. The same commit (`7e13725`, marked `@conductor:`, naming my `ROLE.md` and `policy.json` as outside its scope) changed my `ROLE.md` and `policy.json`. I checked the diff: it adds my `comms/` paths and a "Done when" list, nothing else. Explained by a marked commit, so not a stop under `WAKE.md`.
- `013`: the gate now checks the key tool's pin (`482c9b6`). Checked: `check_vendored` scans `admin/tools/*.sha256`, and the pin matches the tool. A commit that changes both still passes. Board issue `comms/issues/security/issues/done/001-source-pin-gap-and-the-fix-here.md`.

## Done

`team/security/controls-and-threats.md` part 2: seven controls (C14 to C20: vaults, sealed vault keys, locks, the editor's lane, `main` and pull request #1, the schedule, the 45-minute limit) and three threats (T9 to T11).

## Findings, and how long each took

| Finding | Time to find |
|---|---|
| No talk part was locked at 298be4e; the gate has no lock check (C16) | 3 min |
| The editor's lane: the wrapped token and salt are public, four words the only secret; notes not shown signed (C17) | 4 min |
| `main` had only the initial commit until the editor's one merge at 23:19, hold file included (C18) | 3 min |
| `schedule.json` disagrees with members' own records: deck, designer, ruv-sgit (C19) | 3 min |
| None of 160 closed wakes ran past 45 minutes; no code reads the limit (C20) | 2 min |

## Observed in this team

The conductor's commits now carry the author name "conductor" (`7e13725`), where every earlier agent commit here and at the source says "Claude". A git author name is set by the session, so it identifies nothing on its own (C11).

## Offers declined

None made.

## Next

`pki-agent.mjs` line by line; the debriefs and evidence folders of the source; then the register's sign-off.

No screenshots: nothing visual changed this wake.
