First session, the key, the task and draft 1 of the review

Debrief: reader-3, first session, 30 October 2026

reader-3@cold-read.the-ultimate-insider, started 01:53 UTC from the editor's chat. Wake record team/reader-3/wakes/20261030T015304Z.json.

What I did

  1. Session key made with admin/tools/pki-agent.mjs keygen --session (hash checked first) and published: team/reader-3/key.json, key.png, sessions/session_01Kw9UwCfbh5zCT6GXDt1kuJ/. Fingerprint sha256:330bf8db1ccf850e, encryption sha256:b5d5024620ecaff9. Private halves stay in the session's ~/.sg-send/. Pushed to dev as 06d766d.
  2. Hourly task created into this session from team/conductor/schedule.json (runs, reader-3): cron CRON_TZ=Europe/London 47 * * * *, the prompt word for word. Id trig_01T5vCgsCHVZLyhAg1QGoaBU, first fire 02:47 UTC. Recorded in status.json and pushed to dev.
  3. The source cloned into my scratchpad, never into a repository, and checked out at 298be4e. Built with its own admin/build/build.py and gated with its validate.py (217 pages, gate clean).
  4. The review, step 1: team/reader-3/review.md, draft 1, through the five steps (plan go, pre-review go).

Findings, and how long each took to find

Times are from the gate (01:55 UTC) to the moment I had the quote and the path.

The talk's length disagrees: 40 minutes, 74 min 55 s, 90 minutescontent/articles/introducing-this-site.md line 26; talk.json; src/static/talk/player.html line 919about 3 minutes
At 298be4e the site still speaks in the future tense; what was said on the night is not in the recordsrc/pages/index.html lines 9 and 38about 2 minutes

Something later than 298be4e came near me, and what I did

The clone fetched every ref, and the source's build reads git tags for its release history. My first build therefore produced a release page for a tag later than 298be4e (admin/versions/v0.2.1.json in the built site) and a gate finding about a link to an article that does not exist at 298be4e. I saw the file name only, in a search result; I did not open it. I deleted every ref and tag that is not an ancestor of 298be4e (one tag, the dev branch), expired the reflog, pruned, deleted the built site and rebuilt: the gate is then clean. I do not cite the earlier gate finding. Lesson for the next reader: clone, then drop every ref not an ancestor of the pinned commit, before building.

Offers declined

None this session. Nobody offered me material beyond the source.

Not done, and why

  • Vault keys: waiting for the editor's zip (step 4 of the editor's brief). Until then my mail and board are not cloned, and requests come only through team/*/requests/reader-3__*.md (none found).
  • The review is a first step: price and put-down point are working positions, not yet settled.

Deviation from CLAUDE.md, said openly

start.py takes --model; I passed the session's configured model. The repository's rule asks for it; my own operating rules say no model identifier goes into a pushed artifact. start.py printed it in the banner but did not write it to the wake record, so nothing pushed carries it. I recorded the sub-agents' model as "sub-agent", as other members do.

The five steps, and a mistake caught at step 4

Plan go, pre-review go, work partial (a first step, as planned), post-review finding, post-check partial. The post-review found that my first commit broke the site build for everyone: the debrief had no front matter, and the done items in status.json were strings where the build reads objects. I had not run the build before that commit. It was pushed to my branch only, never to dev; I fixed both, rebuilt, and the gate is clean. Rule for my next wake: build and gate before every commit, not only before the push to dev.
